Kathy Bradley

Kathy Kim (Performer, Musician, Maker and Director) was born and raised in Bradford, England. She was awarded a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (flute) before going on to study Drama at Manchester University.  She has worked in theatre as an actor, musician and mask performer for the past 25 years with companies including Solent People's Theatre, Snap, TheatreVan, Tameside, Theatre Foundry, Forest Forge, Oxford Stage Company and New Perspectives. In recent years, Kathy has worked as a musician, music director, mask performer, puppeteer and maker with Horse & Bamboo Theatre, touring the United Kingdom and Eire as well as mainland Europe. Further afield, Kathy has worked as artist/maker in festivals and outdoor events, including Islewilde Community Arts Celebration and Oregon Country Fair (USA), Illuminares Lantern Procession (Canada), and Dream Parade (Taiwan).

     
 

Andrew Kim (Puppet and Mask Maker, Performer and Director) was born in Korea, raised and educated in the US, and is a recent transplant to England. Andrew has created and performed puppet and mask plays, parades and pageants for over 17 years with In the Heart of the Beast Theatre, Bread & Puppet Theater, San Francisco Mime Troupe and Horse & Bamboo. Andrew has studied traditional mask dance in Korea and Bali, mask carving in Bali, and clowning at Dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre. Andrew has served as an organizer and lead artist in several outdoor community-generated spectacles: He has served as the Artistic Director of the Islewilde Community Arts Celebration (Vashon, WA), Director of the Fremont Summer Solstice Pageant (Seattle), Artistic Director of the Dream Parade (Shijr City, Taiwan), Director of the Conwy River Festival Lantern Parade and Pageant (Wales), Finale Director of the Liverpool Halloween Lantern Carnivaland, Director of the Stockton International Riverside Festival Carnival Finale and Founder and Artistic Director of the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade.

Rebecca
Rebecca Dearden (Marketing and Bookings) Rebecca’s first arts event was the hugely successful Empty, Swept and Garnished project. She brought together nine artists, arts students, volunteers and the public for a fortnight’s exhibition and workshops in a derelict office building in the centre of Shrewsbury. As well as curating more than 10 exhibitions, she has worked as a freelance consultant with the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival and with arts and regeneration organisation Beam.   Jonny Quick (Lighting Designer and Technical Consultant) is a freelance performer, puppeteer, technician and maker, and trained in Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art. He has a wide experience of both ‘conventional’ and special needs theatre practices, community and site-specific projects, working with many companies including Oily Cart Company and Dynamic New Animation. Jonny has performed in several productions by Horse & Bamboo Theatre, including THE LEGEND OF THE CREAKING FLOORBOARD (a horse-drawn tour), COMPANY OF ANGELS and IN THE SHADOW OF TREES. He has toured extensively throughout the UK and Eire, Europe and the USA. Most recently, Jonny has been involved in the technical installation and upgrade of Horse & Bamboo’s new venue – The ‘Boo’. Jonny has been the Lighting Designer for Thingumajig Theatre's productions WANT, THE VERTIGO OF SHEEP and A NOVEMBER DAY.

Mark Whitaker
Mark Whitaker (Director, Puppet Movement Coach and Devising Artist) was born in Leeds and currently lives in the middle of the Derbyshire Dales. He studied Drama and English at Chester College and has been working as a puppeteer and mask performer for the last 18 years with companies including Playboard Puppets, Norwich Puppet Theatre, Horse & Bamboo Theatre, Little Angel Theatre, Pop-Up Puppet Theatre, Aardman Animations and Opera North. He has worked in Mainland Europe, Canada, Brazil and Mexico and has toured extensively in the UK. As well as performing, Mark has worked as a director, puppet maker and workshop leader. He has also worked with theatre companies as a puppet movement consultant. Mark is the Director of Thingumajig Theatre's A NOVEMBER DAY and HULLABA LULU. Panchan (Dogsbody), is a recruit from the Manchester Dogs' Home. He is very interested in all aspects of building and rehearsing but is especially keen on the squeaky toy and other puppetry sound effect instruments.
